Clarification of the risks
Dog sledding, like any sport involving speed (10-20 km/h) involves its own risk.
Guests will be given driving instructions, and deliberately failing to follow them, can result in injury to the clients and the dogs.
Minimum driving age is set at 16 yrs old.
You must have good physical condition: Driving a sled requires the ability to hold tight onto the sled, help the dogs by walking up hills and balancing the sled. This is defined as:
No injuries (back, leg, arms,...)
No pre-existing condition with an increased risk during exercise
No history of narcolepsy or blackouts
Ability to walk uphills
No known heart/cardio risk/history
If pregnant, please inform us when booking.
If you are unsure about joining one of our tours due to your physical condition, please contact us at: contact@runwildmushing.com
Intoxication is forbidden.
Please ensure you have the correct travel insurance that covers dog sledding in case of injury during the tour.
The guides at Run Wild Mushing are all highly experienced, and have the right to refuse a guest on a tour, or shorten the tour, if the guest does not seem capable to participate in the activity, or is not complying to the rules. The decisions made by Run Wild Mushing are final.
By booking this activity you declare that you understand that failure to follow the safety requirements may result in the cancellation of your activity with no refund.
Weather conditions
For bookings in November (early winter), if there is not sufficient snow to use sleds, guests will drive karts (sleds on wheels) instead. This is equally as fun, and we cannot control the first snowfall of the winter.
The climate in the arctic can be harsh at times. Run Wild Mushing holds the right to modify the length of tours (distance or time) for the safety of our guests and dogs. These weather conditions include: extreme cold, strong winds, heavy snowfalls, rain,... In some extreme circumstances, Run Wild Mushing can cancel tours. In this case, our guests will be contacted as early as possible, and offered an alternative tour, or a full refund.
However, when guests wish to cancel due to weather, there will be no refund.
Our dogs are all socialised, friendly and well behaved. However on entering Run Wild Mushing’s dog yard, you are agreeing to the fact that dogs are dogs, and on occasion can jump on a guest, or try to steal gloves/hats/other clothing. Damage to clothing from our dogs will therefore not be covered by Run Wild Mushing.
Time and Length of tours
30 min tour: Standard duration of this tour is 25 to 35 min. And a distance of approximately 3-5km. Time varies largely depending on the trail conditions, energy of the dogs and the abilities of the guests. Tours will usually not be shorter than 25 min, but can be longer than 30 (up to 40 min). The distance will also vary depending on these same conditions. We therefore do not guarantee a set distance or precise time.
Half day tour: Standard duration of this tour is approximately 1-1.5h, and 5-15km. The time and distance can vary depending on the trail conditions, energy of the dogs and the abilities of the guests. Tours will usually not be shorter than 1h. The distance will also vary depending on these same conditions. We therefore do not guarantee a set distance or precise time.
Aurora dog sledding: Standard duration of this tour is 30 to 45 min. And a distance of approximately 3-8km. Time varies largely depending on the trail conditions, energy of the dogs and the abilities of the guests. Tours will usually not be shorter than 30 min. The distance will also vary depending on these same conditions. We therefore do not guarantee a set distance or precise time.
Multi-day expeditions: Start time and end time of multi day tours are to be agreed on before the tour, depending on the type of tour. The end time of the final day of the tour is usually set to allow more than enough time for the guests to return to their accommodation. However transportation will not be covered incase of delays (taxi, flights…). We recommend allowing plenty of time between the tour end time and flights (for example booking a return flight a day after the end of the expedition).
